沼气储气柜在实际使用中将配备安全水封配件，以在储罐超压时为合理的压力释放做准备。发生超压时，气体将通过水封排出，同时会混入大量的水。随着水蒸气的状态，水位将逐渐降低以达到泄压的目的。如果双膜储气柜的风量较大，则会直接喷水，但这会导致保护器无法自行恢复，因此需要手动装满水。
